How to better deal with problems life throws our way?

My practice focuses on the financial aspects of life leading to and through retirement, unexpected circumstances thrown at us from every direction all the time have an effect on us and our lives. We must know how to deal with the unexpected and how to best react.
This is the reason I decided to write this post even though it is not about finance or planning but rather to include information I have gleaned from a news-letter I got from a business advice Guru Brian Tracey. Brian suggests that the most important in these situations is our reaction to what happens when we face unexpected problems and having the very best attitude we can have.

A. We need to focus on the future

No matter the challenges we face, it is important that we focus on the future rather than on the past is. Worrying about who did what and who is to blame, isn't going to make a difference. We need to focus on where we want to be and what we want to do or achieve. Mentally visualize results and our successful future, then take action to begin moving in that direction. Focus our mind, our thoughts, and our mental images on the future.

B. We need to think about the Solution, not the problem

It is very important to focus on the solution rather than on the problem. Thinking and talking about the best solution to the obstacle or setback, rather than wasting time rehashing and reflecting on the problem will get us moving in the right direction rather than wasting energy on pity party. Solutions are inherently positive, whereas problems are inherently negative. The sooner we begin thinking in terms of solutions, the sooner we can turn into more positive and constructive people.

C. We need to find the “Silver Lining”

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, a big proponent of positive thinking said:   "Whenever God wants to give us a gift, he wraps it up in a problem." The bigger the gift we have coming, the bigger the problem we may receive. The wonderful thing is that if we look hard enough for the gift, we will almost always find it. Knowing that something good may be hidden within a difficulty or challenge can motivates us and make us feel more positive.

D. We need to learn a lesson from every problem

We should always assume that whichever situation we face is exactly the right situation we must face in order to be successful ultimately. Assume that the situation was sent to us in order to assist us in learning something that will help us become better and help us expand and grow.

E. We need to make the decision to be positive

A Positive Mental Attitude is indispensable to success. We can be as positive as we wish to be if we will simply think about our future, focus on the solution at hand and look for anything good and positive we can find. If we do and follow what other successful people do, use our mind to exert mental control over the situation, we will be more positive and cheerful much of the time and can reap the benefits enjoyed by successful people.
I hope this is helpful. Common sense a practicality makes life easier.
